Lynn
M. Brinckmeyer is Professor of Music and Associate Chair of
the Department of Music at Eastern Washington University.
Her degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Education and
Master of Music Education from Eastern New Mexico University,
and a Ph.D. in Music Education from The University of Kansas.
She taught elementary music and middle school choir in New
Mexico.
Dr. Brinckmeyer is one of the two final candidates for the
office of National President of MENC: The National Association
for Music Education. She has recently completed a two-year
term as President for the Northwest Division of MENC and will
remain on the Northwest Division Board as Immediate Past President.
Other recent offices include Music Educators Journal
Editorial Board, WMEA General Music Curriculum Chair, MENC
2001 Music In Our Schools Month Music Selection Committee,
and the Choral Session Committee for the 2002 MENC National
Convention.
Dr. Brinckmeyer received both the PTI Excellence in Teaching
Award and the CenturyTel Award for outstanding faculty at
Eastern Washington University. This spring she will conduct
the Idaho Music Educators Association Elementary All-State
Honor Choir. She directs the Eastern Washington University
Concert Choir and is the founding director of the South Hill
Children's Chorus in Spokane. Dr. Brinckmeyer has lectured,
given master classes and performed vocal recitals across the
United States and in Korea, Taiwan, Amsterdam, Italy and the
British Isles. Conducting venues include the WMEA Elementary
All State Choir, Festival of the Arts, Mountain Treble Choir
Festival, Bi-County Gala Concert, Panorama Choral Festival,
Gem State High School Girls Choral Festival, EWU Men's Honor
Choir, EWU Women's Honor Choir, and the Pocatello Junior High
Girls Choral Festival. She is also active in community theatre.
