Directions to United Methodist Church in Lewiston

The address of the church is 1906 Broadview Drive. Broadview Drive branches off from 13th Street just south of 18th Avenue.

Coming from 16th Avenue and 8th Street (where the Owl Pharmacy is on the SW corner):

  • Travel south two blocks on 8th Avenue.
  • Turn left at 18th Avenue (Nazarene Church will be on your left) .
  • Turn right at 13th Avenue.
  • Angle right on to Broadview Drive. You will see the church by that point.

Coming from 21st Street:

  • Travel west on 16 Avenue (China Inn on NE corner; Toyota Dealer on NW corner).
  • Go through one traffic light, for 0.6 mile to 13th Street. There is no traffic light there, but there is a sign right at the corner on the right pointing left to the church. The street starts going downhill slightly just before this turn.
  • Turn left on 13th Street and drive south two blocks to 18th Avenue (the second stop sign).
  • Continue south on 13th Street and take your first right at the Y intersection, which is Broadview Drive. You will see the church by that point.

Coming from Moscow or Pullman:

  1. As you cross the bridge over the Clearwater River, just after you've gone through the first traffic light in north Lewiston, move into the left lane.
  2. Keep in that lane as you go through the next traffic light. This will put you on 21st Street.
  3. Continue up 21st Street for 0.7 mile, to the third traffic light, the one at 16th Avenue. The China Inn Restaurant will be on your right; the Toyota dealer will be on your left.
  4. Turn right on 16th Avenue, and go through one traffic light, for 0.6 mile to 13th Street. There is no traffic light there, but there is a sign right at the corner on the right pointing left to the church. The street starts going downhill slightly just before this turn.
  5. Turn left on 13th Street and drive south two blocks to 18th Avenue (the second stop sign).
  6. Continue south on 13th Street and take your first right at the Y intersection, which is Broadview Drive. You will see the church by that point.

Some facts to keep in mind about Lewiston street names, but that aren't absolutely necessary to know in order to get to the church:

  • When you are going south in Lewiston, you are usually going uphill, a fact that can be confusing to those like me who associate going north with going uphill. Avenues in Lewiston run east-west.
  • Streets run north-south. (This is also opposite to what you might expect.)
  • Two of the streets that begin downtown change their names after going south for half a mile or so because they sort of jog when they come up the hill (9th Street downtown becomes 8th Street; 18th Street becomes 17th Street), but 21st Street (the recommended route), 13th Street, and 5th Street do not change their names in that part of town.
  • Further south, in the Orchards part of town, 14th Street becomes 4th Street; 17th Street becomes 5th Street; and 21st Street becomes Thain Grade, then Thain Road, then 14th Street, then Ripon Ave., and then Tammany Creek Rd. If you go as far as Thain Grade, though, to get to the church, you will have gone too far.
