Our Mission

IWCC meets as a community to learn choral music, which we strive to perform at the highest possible level for the enjoyment and education of our audience and our own personal fulfillment.

Our Music

IWCC performs a wide variety of music from the choral repertoire, including music from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical periods, through to 20th Century and Contemporary choral works.  In addition, an occasional concert may be devoted to other musical styles such as Pop, Jazz or Broadway.

Our Organization

The Idaho-Washington Concert Chorale (IWCC) is an auditioned community chorale of about seventy singers, with a smaller auditioned subset, the Chamber Choir, dedicated to additional rehearsal and performance.  Singers come from the Palouse region around Moscow, Idaho and Pullman, Washington, as well as the two cities at the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake Rivers: Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington. A few singers come from as far away as Lamont, Washington and Kamiah, Idaho.

We perform two or three programs of choral music each year.  Although we often perform sacred music in churches, we do so mainly because so much of the music we perform was originally intended to be performed in such places. We are not a religious organization, and our singers are of many religious persuasions (or none at all). Members’ ages have ranged from their late teens to their early 90s.

Our Artistic and Music Director is Dr. Michael Murphy, who is also a professor of choral music at University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.

The Idaho-Washington Concert Chorale is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and is classified as a public charity.  Its business  is conducted and overseen by volunteer members of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.  Our annual budget usually is about $30,000 a year.  Expenses include salaries for the music director, accompanist and instrumentalists at concerts, and expenses related to publicity among other expenses.  Our income derives mainly from sponsorships and donations, ticket sales, fundraising and advertising in our program.   The Chorale’s ten years of success has grown out of the generosity of our sponsors, our donors, and our volunteers.
